"TAKE A LOOK BACK" TUESDAY!!!

"TAKE A LOOK BACK" TUESDAY IS A WEEKLY FEATURE FROM THE KASUAL WORLD.

In the music industry, Tuesday is commonly known as the day that new music, more specifically new albums are released. Instead of taking a look at NEW albums, we will be taking a look back, at previously released albums, classic albums that we would run and buy (before digital downloads) and play until the CD (compact disc) skipped! These are the albums of yesterday, that are the topic of discussion, today...

Today's Album: "Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101by Young Jeezy
by King Riv (contributor)

Let's Get It: Thug Motivation had one hell of a debut studio album. When I first purchased this "Trap or Die Music" I didn’t know what to expect. The only thing that I was certain of was, Jeezy, (as he is commonly referred to) was the arguably the best member--in the short lived group Boyz In The Hood, comprised of the best up and coming dirty south artist at the time, originally consisting of Jeezy, Jody Breeze and Big Duke.

The "Snowman"-as he referred to himself, did not disappoint with this classic effort. Complete with amazing beats, where the 808 drum kick had my speakers steadily knocking! A star was born with this LP. After its release, the album was well received throughout the entire country. Despite nationwide success, Jeezy appealed to the "hustler" demographic, quickly becoming very popular on 'hood corners all over.

My favorite track of the album was the radio single, Soul Survivor feat Akon. Everything was perfect on that song. Jeezy's bravado was on point, and Akon came with his usually soulful sound to complement Jeezy's  rugged verses. Jeezy had the best ad libs on this record--I would catch myself repeating them as if they were actual lyrics.

Check out Beanie Sigel!

Let's Get It eventually went on to platinum status and became a classic album to many. If Let's get it came out right about now, I believe it would fair even better--because of  the lack of competition in today s trap music ( down south hustler music). This album gets a POW!!! from me, KING RIV! (K*W)
